4-2A.2 Step 2: Preparation of 2-methyl-6-(1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine
To a solution of (E)-3-(dimethylamino)-1-(6-methylpyridin-2-yl)prop-2-en-1-one (190.0 mg, 1.0 mmol, 1.0 equiv.) in ethanol (5.0 mL) with an inert atmosphere of nitrogen, was added hydrazine hydrate (2.0 mL). The resulting solution was stirred for 20 h at 25^oC and concentrated under reduced pressure. The crude product was purified by Flash-Prep-HPLC with the following conditions (IntelFlash-1): Column, C18 silica gel; mobile phase, water and acetonitrile (10.0% acetonitrile up to 100.0% in 20 min); Detector, UV 254 nm. 150 mg (90%) of 2-methyl-6-(1H- pyrazol-3-yl)pyridine was obtained as a yellow solid.
