1-Chloroethyl chloroformate was added to a solution of (2S) -2- (4-fluorophenyl) -4- (benzyl) morpholine (9.05 g) in dichloroethane (160 ml) at 70°C. After the reaction mixture was refluxed for 2 hrs, the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure. Methanol (100ml) was added to the residue, and then the mixture was refluxed for 30 min. The solvent was evaporated and the precipitate was collected by filtration to give (2S) -2- (4-fluorophenyl) morpholine hydrochloride (5.3 g, 73%) as white crystals.1H-NMR (d-DMSO) δ: 2.99 (IH, dd, J=12.0, 12.0 Hz), 3.10 (IH, ddd, J=12.0, 12.0, 3.6 Hz), 3.22-3.26 (IH, m) , 3.32 (3H, s), 3.37-3.42 (IH, m) , 3.89-3.97 (IH, m) , 4.11 (IH, ? dd, J= 12.3, 3.3 Hz), 4.77 (IH, m) , 7.20-7.26 (2H, m) , 7.42-7.47 (2H, m) .
