Steps:

1.1 Example 1
Thiophene I-1 (5.0 g, 59.4 mmol) was weighed into a pressure resistant tube, 14 ml (700 mmol) of deuterated water was added, and the mixture was cooled to 0After addition of P2O5 (28.4 g, 200 mmol), the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 5 min and then heated to 120C for 24 hours. After cooling to 0C, water (80 ml) was added, and the reaction solution (3 x 60 ml) was extracted with CH2Cl2. After drying MgSO4, the filtrate was evaporated under reduced pressure to give an oily residue (5.0 g), which was distilled at atmospheric pressure to give Compound I-24.0 g in 80% yield.
