Occurrence
Found in the wood of several conifers, particularly cypresses and cedars—Cedrus atlantica, Cupressus sempervirens, Juniperus virginiana and others (Fenaroli's Handbook of Flavor Ingredients, 1971).
Preparation
By isolation from cedarwood oil Virginia or by oxidation of cedrene via cedrenyl acetate (Arctander, 1969).
