The general procedure for the synthesis of 1-(5-bromo-2-fluoro-3-pyridinyl)ethanone from the compound (CAS:1111637-73-0) was as follows: pyridinium dichromate (55.4 g, 147 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (DCM, 100 mL) and the solution was cooled to 0 °C. Subsequently, a solution of 1-(5-bromo-2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)ethanol (10.8 g, 49.1 mmol) in DCM (30 mL) was added to this solution. The reaction mixture was gradually warmed to room temperature and stirred continuously for 48 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was filtered through diatomaceous earth, the filter cake was washed with DCM and the filtrate was concentrated to afford 1-(5-bromo-2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)ethanone (11 g, 51 mmol, 100% yield) as a light yellow solid. Analyzed by LC/MS (ESI+), m/z = 218 (M + H+) was measured. | [References]
