Catalyst Cl-/TiO2-La2O3 (where the Cl- content is 5 wt% of TiO2-La2O3) was added to a 300 mL autoclave reactor. At 20 °C, 20.100 g of methylal and 100 g of paraformaldehyde were added to the reactor and reacted at 130 °C and 0.6 MPa autogenous pressure for 4 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the samples were separated by centrifugation and the products were analyzed using gas chromatography. The products mainly consisted of polyformaldehyde ethers as well as unreacted methylal and paraformaldehyde, see Table 1 for the specific composition. | [References]
