Orange red to black brown crystalline powder. Denser than water.

LITHIUM DICHROMATE is an oxidizer. Can react with combustibles [USCG, 1999]. May decompose when heated giving off oxygen that further supports combustion [USCG, 1999].
[Health Hazard]

INHALATION: Corrosive to mucous membranes. SKIN: Causes dermatitis and slow-healing ulcers. EYES: Conjunctivitis and lacrimation. INGESTION: Violent gastroenteritis, peripheral vascular collapse, vertigo, muscle cramps, coma, hemorrhagic diathesis, fever, liver damage and renal failure.

Behavior in Fire: May decompose giving off oxygen with supports further combustion.
[Potential Exposure]

Used as a corrosion inhibitor, heat transfer agent; and oxidizing agent in leather and metal finishing. Also used in photography, wood preservatives; batteries, safety matches, and cement
[First aid]

If this chemical gets into the eyes, remove any contact lenses at once and irrigate immediately for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids. Seek medical attention immediately. If this chemical contacts the skin, remove contaminated clothing and wash immediately with soap and water. Seek medical attention immediately. If this chemical has been inhaled, remove from exposure, begin rescue breathing (using universal precautions, including resuscitation mask) if breathing has stopped and CPR if heart action has stopped. Transfer promptly to a medical facility. When this chemical has been swallowed, get medical attention. Give large quantities of water and induce vomiting. Do not make an unconscious person vomit.
