5-(trifluoromethyl)thiazol-2-amine can be used as organic synthesis intermediate and pharmaceutical intermediate, mainly used in laboratory research and development process and chemical production process. | [Synthesis]
Sodium dithionite (1.0 mmol) was added in one portion to a mixture of 2-aminothiazole (1.0 mmol), NaHCO3 (1.0 mmol) and polyfluoroalkyl iodide (1.5 mmol) in acetonitrile/water (4:1/v:v) at 5-10 °C under Ar atmosphere. The mixture was stirred until complete conversion of starting material as indicated by TLC analysis. Acetonitrile was removed under reduced pressure and water (5 mL) was added. The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (4.0 mL .x. 3) and the combined organic layers were dried over Na2SO4. The solvent was removed under vacuum and the residue was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (petroleum/ethyl acetate) to give the product. | [References]
