General procedure for the synthesis of 4-(piperidin-3-yl)aniline from 3-(4-nitrophenyl)pyridine: 3-(4-nitrophenyl)pyridine (20.0 g), methanol (180 mL), and 0.1 M hydrochloric acid were added to a hydrogenation reactor, and the reaction was carried out by the method described in reference to the literature (Org. Process Res. Dev. 2011, 15, 831-840) . This was done as follows: 3-(4-nitrophenyl)pyridine was added to the reactor, followed by the addition of PtO2 (2 g). The reaction system was evacuated and displaced with nitrogen, and then the reaction mixture was cooled to 10 °C. The reaction mixture was heated to 40 °C with continuous stirring for 18 hours. After completion of the reaction, the mixture was cooled to room temperature, neutralized with sodium hydroxide solution, extracted with isopropyl acetate and the extract was concentrated to give the product.The yield of N-(4-(pyridin-3-yl)phenyl)hydroxylamine was 4.2%.
