Studies have shown that boron phosphide films exhibit excellent light transmittance over a wide wavelength range and possess the best rain erosion resistance among similar films, maximizing the improvement of the damage threshold velocity (DTV) of the substrate. Compared to germanium carbide, boron phosphide exhibits superior mechanical properties, with a Knoop hardness of 47 GPa, more than twice that of sapphire, and an elastic modulus as high as 270 GPa, the highest among all binary covalent compounds with a zincblende structure. Compared to diamond, boron phosphide thin films demonstrate better adhesion, facilitating large-area deposition. Compared to DLC, boron phosphide exhibits lower internal stress, adheres well to various substrate materials, and has no limitations on film thickness. Therefore, boron phosphide is a preferred material for antireflective protective films for infrared windows resistant to high-speed flight. |
