Isolated from Ganoderma lucidum and Cordyceps sinensis, it exhibits antimycobacterial, trypanocidal and antineoplastic activities. It has a role as a metabolite, an antineoplastic agent, an antimycobacterial drug and a trypanocidal drug. It is an organic peroxide, an ergostanoid, a 3beta-sterol and a member of phytosterols.
