Scandium(III) chloride hexahydrate is applied in optical coating, catalyst, electronic ceramics and laser industry, are also excellent precursors for production of ultra high purity compounds, catalysts, and nanoscale materials. The main application of Scandium by weight is in Scandium-Aluminium alloys for minor aerospace industry components. Dentists use Erbium, Chromium: Yttrium-Scandium-Gallium Garnet (Er,Cr:YSGG) lasers for cavity preparation and in endodontics.
