Agricultural fungicide. | [Uses]
Pyracarbolid is a systemic fungicide for bean rust control. | [Definition]
ChEBI: Pyracarbolid is an anilide and an anilide fungicide. | [Production Methods]
Pyracarbolid was produced through a manufacturing sequence typical of early pyridyl carbamate herbicides. Industrial routes generally began with the preparation of a substituted pyridine intermediate, which was then converted into a reactive carbamoyl chloride or isocyanate using phosgenation or an equivalent carbonyl transfer reagent under strictly controlled, anhydrous conditions. This activated intermediate was subsequently coupled with the appropriate phenolic or heterocyclic alcohol to form the final carbamate structure. After condensation, the crude material was purified by solvent washing and crystallisation to obtain technical grade pyracarbolid for formulation. | [Mechanism of action]
Systemic fungicide, absorbed by plants via roots and leaves. Anilide fungicides work by inhibiting succinate dehydrogenase (SDH), a key enzyme in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. | [Pesticide Type]
