Polysuccinimide is a biodegradable and tissue-friendly polymer derived from L-aspartic acid. Under physiological conditions (pH = 7.4), it hydrolyses to form water-soluble polyaspartic acid. As it can be readily modified with primary amines, it is possible to synthesise a variety of polysuccinimides and polyaspartic acids with diverse properties. | [References]
