To a solution of 2-fluoro-4-methylaniline (250 g, 2 mol) and triethylamine (202 g, 2 mol) dissolved in 2 L of dichloromethane, acetyl chloride (156 g, 2 mol) was added slowly and dropwise. The reaction mixture was stirred at 0 °C for 2 h and subsequently washed with dilute hydrochloric acid. The organic phase was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the crude intermediate N-(2-fluoro-4-methylphenyl)acetamide (334 g, 87% yield). | [References]
