| Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Chemical Properties]
Pale yellow powder. Contains three biologically active components: A1, A2, and A3, with strong reducing properties. The suspension is stable at 100°C for 10 minutes at pH 7.0, but decomposes rapidly under light, heat, and oxygen. It has no melting point and decomposes upon heating above 160°C. Its specific optical rotations [α]25D are +21° (pyridine), +12° (dimethylformamide), -7° (0.1 mol/L hydrochloric acid in methanol), and -10° (glacial acetic acid). Its maximum absorption wavelengths in ethanol are 290 nm, 307 nm, and 322 nm. Solubility at room temperature: 4 mg/ml in water, 11.2 mg/ml in methanol, 1.2 mg/ml in ethanol, 8.75 mg/ml in ethylene glycol, 1.23 mg/ml in carbon tetrachloride, 0.48 mg/ml in chloroform, and 0.28 mg/ml in benzene. LD50 (mouse, intraperitoneal) approximately 200 mg/kg. | [Uses]
