Carefully add 3,3,3-trifluoropropyltrichlorosilane to a high-temperature, dry reaction flask, then add n-hexane and stir until homogeneous. Slowly add methanol to the reaction system. Heat the resulting mixture to reflux and allow it to reflux for several hours. The reaction progress can be monitored by gas chromatography. After the reaction is complete, remove the n-hexane and unreacted methanol by rotary evaporation under vacuum.
