2,2'-bipyridine-6,6'-dicarbaldehyde is synthesized as follows: 2-Amino-6-methylpyridine is used as a starting material to generate 2-bromo-6-methylpyridine via diazotization. Then, 6,6'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (dmbp) is generated via symmetric coupling reaction. Finally, dmbp is oxidized to generate the final product.
