Add the amine derivative (202 mg) to the tube, followed by 500 mg of 4? molecular sieve and 100 mg of PhI(OAc)2. Seal the tube. Place the tube in a 50 °C oil bath. After 2 hours, add a solution of 2% AgOTf and 2.4% phenanthroline ligand in 1 ml of CH2Cl2. Return the tube to the oil bath. Let the mixture react overnight. After overnight reaction, the solution usually turns deep yellow or deep red. Filter the reaction mixture through a silica gel pad for a short time. Wash the reaction mixture several times with CH2Cl2 and diethyl ether. Evaporate the organic solvent. The residue was purified by column chromatography (silica gel, hexahexane/EtOAc) to obtain 4,4-DIMETHYLOXAZOLIDINE. |
