Under nitrogen protection, 2-aminopyrazine (95 mg, 1 mmol) was added to a 50 mL Schlenk tube with triethylamine (304 mg, 3 mmol) and the catalyst [(Bt)2 * Ir * P(nBu)3] OTf (9.6 mg, 0.01 mmol, 1.0 mol%), followed by the addition of 2.0 mL xylene as a solvent. The reaction mixture was stirred at 155 °C for 10 hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was purified by silica gel column chromatography (200-300 mesh) with an eluent ratio of 1:10 ethyl acetate/petroleum ether. After concentration of the eluate under reduced pressure, the target product N-ethylpyrazin-2-amine was obtained in 78% yield.
