Yellow powder. Solubility in water (50°C) is 40g/L. Its aqueous solution is yellow, and turns slightly darker red upon addition of 1mol/L sodium hydroxide. Addition of hydrosulfite and warming turns it colorless. Addition of sodium perborate does not restore its original color. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it is vermilion, turning yellow upon dilution. In concentrated nitric acid, it is purplish red, turning yellow upon dilution. | [Uses]
