Concanamycin B is a macrocyclic lactone originally isolated from Streptomyces diastatochromogenes in 1982 as a potent inhibitor of the proliferation of mouse splenic lymphocytes stimulated by concanavalin A. Like other concanamycins and bafilomycins, concanamycin B inhibits vacuolar H(+)-ATPase. Concanamycin B inhibits the expression of newly-synthesized MHC class II molecules and suppresses bone resorption in vitro. | [Uses]
