Oily liquid, soluble in xylene and acetonitrile. | [Uses]
Methyl 2-(isocyanatosulfonylmethyl)benzoate is an intermediate for the herbicide bensulfuron-methyl. | [Synthesis]
The preparation method is as follows: adding a mixture of n-butyl isocyanate and xylene into a reaction kettle, then adding o-methoxycarbonylbenzylsulfonamide, stirring, heating up to 120° C, passing through phosgene for 3 hours, sampling and analyzing, and the reaction is over. The phosgene is driven with nitrogen for about 1.5h, followed by distillation to recover n-butyl isocyanate and xylene, and the residual liquid is methyl 2-(isocyanatosulfonylmethyl)benzoate. |
