(Rac)-Indoximod (1-Methyl-DL-tryptophan; 0.5 mM; 3 days) inhibits tryptophan depletion, thereby partially reversing the growth-inhibitory activity of IFN-γ, but eventually induces cell death regardless of tryptophan depletion.
