Uses
2-(Trimethylsilyl)ethyl Chloroformate is a reagent used in the introduction of the trimethylsilylethoxycarbonyl (Teoc) protecting group for amines or alcohols; activation of tertiary amines for dealkylation or ring opening; starting material for alternative reagents for introduction of the trimethylsilylethoxycarbonyl protecting group. It participates in the reactions of Protection of Amines, Protection of Alcohols, Dealkylation or Ring Opening of Tertiary Amines, Synthesis of Alternative Teoc Reagents etc.

Prepared from 2-(trimethylsilyl)ethanol and phosgene.
