Loxiglumide is a CCK1 antagonist. Suppresses CCK-induced proliferation of acinar cells. Inhibits pancreatic secretion of digestive enzymes. Active in vivo.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Loxiglumide is a small-molecule antagonist of the cholecystokinin receptor CCKA. Loxiglumide inhibits pancreatic secretion of digestive enzymes, and also blocks CCK-induced gastric secretions and emptying.
Safety Profile
A poison by
intravenous. Moderately toxic by ingestion,
intraperitoneal, and subcutaneous routes.
When heated to decomposition it emits
toxic vapors of NOx and Cl-.
