γ-Thiobutyrolactone was used to terminate the ring opening polymerization of ω-pentadecalactone to synthesize difunctional polyesters. γ-Thiobutyrolactone was used to study the mechanism of metabolism of sulphur containing heterocyclic compounds by lignin-degrading basidiomyceteCoriolus versicolor.
