Lanolin is used in a wide variety of creams, ointments and emollients. It is often used as protective baby skin treatment and lip balm products such as carmex. It acts as a lubricant, shoe polish, rust-preventative coatings and a starting material for the production of cholecalciferol using irradiation. It is used to soften and break baseball gloves.
