Cyclododeca-1,5,9-triene Usage And Synthesis
Chemical PropertiesThere are three isomers. The melting point of trans,trans,trans-cyclododecatriene is 34℃; the melting point of trans,trans,cis-cyclododecatriene is -18℃. Boiling point 100-101°C (1.46kPa), relative density 0.8910 (20/4°C), refractive index 1.5058. Soluble in benzene, chloroform. Flash point 87℃.
UsesCyclododeca-1,5,9-triene is used in the production of flame retardants (refractory additives), nylon intermediates, synthetic rubber, flavorings, and fragrances. Cyclododecane can be produced from cyclododecane, which is a raw material for new engineering plastics such as polyamide (nylon-12, nylon-612, and nylon-1012). It is also used in the production of polyamide synthetic fibers, cold-resistant plasticizers, and epoxy resin crosslinking agents.
General DescriptionA colorless liquid. Toxic by skin absorption and ingestion and irritating to skin and eyes. Used to make other chemicals.
Reactivity ProfileCyclododeca-1,5,9-triene may react vigorously with strong oxidizing agents. May react exothermically with reducing agents to release hydrogen gas. In the presence of various catalysts (such as acids) or initiators, may undergo exothermic addition polymerization reactions.
