6,7-Dihydroxycoumarin is a coumarin derivative found in many natural plant products. It has anti-edema, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor biological and pharmacological properties, and can inhibit lipoxygenase.

6,7-Dihydroxycoumarin is an intermediate of the drug pinbuterol. It is methylated with dimethyl sulfate to obtain pyranol (dimethoxycoumarin). 


Application:

It is an antiasthmatic drug with obvious antiasthmatic effect, and has expectorant and antitussive effects. 6,7-Dihydroxycoumarin itself is an antibacterial drug, has an inhibitory effect on dysentery, can be used to treat acute bacillary dysentery, and has asthmatic, expectorant effect, can also be used to treat chronic bronchitis.
