As a polypeptide drug, the physical properties of tesamorelin are closely related to its molecular structure and dosage form, as follows:

I. Appearance and Form

It usually exists in the form of lyophilized powder (for injection), with an appearance of white to off-white loose powder, odorless or slightly having a special odor, and easily soluble in water. The lyophilized state can improve its stability and facilitate storage and transportation.

II. Solubility

As a polypeptide compound, its molecule contains multiple polar amino acid residues (such as lysine, glutamic acid, etc.), so it is easily soluble in water and dilute acid/dilute alkali solutions, but poorly soluble in organic solvents (such as ethanol, ether, chloroform, etc.), which is consistent with the polar characteristics of polypeptide molecules.

III. Stability

It has good stability in solid state (lyophilized state), but is sensitive to temperature, humidity and light；

High temperature (over 30℃) may lead to changes in molecular conformation or degradation;

It is easy to absorb moisture in a humid environment, causing aggregation or hydrolysis reactions;

Strong light irradiation may accelerate oxidative degradation, so it needs to be stored away from light.
