Description
Hexamethyldisiloxane is used as a solvent in organic reactions. It finds application as an international standard for H NMR spectroscopy for calibrating chemical shift. Further, it is used in liquid bandages to protect skin from irritation. In addition, it is used to measure tissue oxygen tension as a receptor molecule.
