Description
Nadolol is a polar and hydrophilic, non-selective β blocker, which displays activity against β-1 and β-2 receptors. It is known that Nadolol inhibits the release of catecholamines from the adrenal glands. Studies involving murine models of asthma suggest that Nadolol at higher concentrations decreases airway resistance response to the muscarinic agonist methacholine. At lower concentrations, Nadolol has the opposite effect. Research indicates that this is due to the fact that Nadolol at higher amounts decreases the degradation of the β-2 adrenergic receptor and increase production of the receptor. This receptor inhibition is due to forskolin- stimulated phosphorylation of the β-2 adrenergic receptor at Ser 262, when applied for 5 minutes. Interestingly, phosphorylation of the receptor is reduced upon application consisting of longer time periods.Suppliers and manufacturers
