Steps:

Preparation of 5-methyl-i,2,4-oxadiazole-3-carbaldehyde

A solution of (5-methyl-i,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)methanol (250 mg, 2.i9 mmol) and Dess-Martin periodinane (i.39 g, 3.29 mmol) in dichloromethane (5 mL) was stirred at room temperature for i2 hours. The mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated under vacuo to give 5-methyl- i,2,4-oxadiazole-3-carbaldehyde (300 mg).
