Example 33; Synthesis of 2-chloro-6-methoxy-4-acetylpyridine; [0132] The 2-chloro-6-methoxyisonicotinic acid of Example 34 was then converted to the Weinreb amide by reaction with 1, 1'-carbonyldiimidazole and N, O- dimethylhydroxylamine. Reaction of the Weinreb amide with methylmagnesium iodide gave the desired 2-chloro-6-methoxy-4-acetylpyridine in 85 % yield.
