General Procedure for the Preparation of 4-(Phenoxy)phenylmethamine Derivatives 22 - 26 (Method B).
General procedure: A THF (30 mL) solution of the4-(benzyloxy)benzonitrile derivative (16-20)(5-10g) was added dropwise to a LiAlH4 (3.0 equiv) suspension in THF (400 mL) at 0°C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature (16 h) and H2O (4 mL) was added dropwise at 0°C followed by an aqueous NaOH solution (2 mL, 15% w/w), and then H2O (4 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature (2 h), and the precipitate filtered over a Celite pad and washed with either CH2Cl2or EtOAc. The combined filtrates were concentrated in vacuo to obtain the desired product as a pale yellow oil.
