Steps:
1 Step 1: 1-(4-bromophenyl) propan-2-ol.
To a stirred solution of 1-(4- bromophenyl) propan-2-one (30.0 g, 140.8 mmol) in MeOH (150 mL) was added NaBH4(13.3 g, 351.9 mmol) at 0 °C. The reaction mixture was stirred at rt for 3h. The reaction mixture was poured into H2O (500 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3x200 mL). The combined organics were dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford the title compound (29.0 g, 95%) as a colorless oil. 1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 400 MHz): d 7.43 (d, 2H), 7.15 (d, 2H), 4.58 (d, 1H), 3.82-3.73 (m, 1H), 2.64-2.48 (m, 2H), 1.01 (d, 3H).
