Potassium carbonate (287 mg, 2.08 mmol) was added to a mixture of 1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde (100 mg, 1.04 mmol) and 1-(chloromethyl)-4-methoxybenzene (162 mg, 1.04 mmol) in acetonitrile (6 mL). The reaction mixture was heated to reflux and stirred for 1 hour. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was poured into water (20 mL) and extracted with ethyl acetate (3 x 20 mL). The organic layers were combined, dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 1-(4-methoxybenzyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde (220 mg, 93.3% yield) as a colorless oil.

32.1 Synthesis of 1-(4-methoxybenzyl)-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde

To a mixture of 1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde (100 mg, 1.04 mmol) and 1- (chloromethyl)-4-methoxybenzene (162 mg, 1.04 mmol) in CH3CN (6 mL) was added potassium carbonate (287 mg, 2.08 mmol), the resulting mixture was stirred at reflux for 1 h. The mixture was poured into water (20 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3×20 mL). The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4and concentrated to give 1-(4-methoxybenzyl)- 1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehyde (220 mg, 93.3 %) as a colorless oil
