1-(4-METHYLBENZYL)PIPERAZINE synthesis

2synthesis methods
-

Yield:435345-17-8 72%

Reaction Conditions:

Stage #1: piperazine dihydrochloride in methanol;Heating;
Stage #2: 4-Methylbenzyl chloridewith copper(II) ions supported on commercial polymeric resinMicrowave irradiation;Reflux;

Steps:

Batch microwave assisted experiments (B)

General procedure: follow classic flask procedures closely. Reaction mixtureswere prepared in the very same way and a relevant supported catalyst was added in amount of0.05: 1 mol. with respect to a corresponding reagent. Subsequently, the flask was put into the microwaveoven and equipped with a glass tube adaptor and a reux condenser. After this, MW irradiation wasemployed instead of regular heating (reflux). Microwave oven power was always set to a minimalenergy (10% of a maximal power, i.e., 80 W) and then applied using a pulse mode (typically 3 sec. of aset power then pause for 4 sec.) to keep the reaction mixture in the flask only slightly boiling.
