Di-tert-butyl dicarbonate was slowly added to a solution of 2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine in dichloromethane (DCM) (500 mL) of 2,2-dimethylpropane-1,3-diamine (80 g, 783 mmol) and di-tert-butyl dicarbonate (91 mL, 391 mmol) at 0 °C. The reaction mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 12 hours. Subsequently, the reaction mixture was concentrated to remove the solvent. The crude product was purified by column chromatography (neutral alumina) using methanol: dichloromethane (1:9) as eluent to afford tert-butyl (3-amino-2,2-dimethylpropyl)carbamate (50 g, 247 mmol, 31.6% yield) as a white solid. The structure of the product was confirmed by 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 0.85 (s, 6H), 1.44 (s, 9H), 2.35-2.52 (m, 2H), 3.00 (br d, J = 6.14Hz, 2H), 5.16 (br s, 1H).

Steps:
4 tert-Butyl (3-amino-2,2-dimethylpropyl)carbamate
To a solution of 2,2-dimethylpropane-1 ,3-diamine (80 g, 783 mmol) in dichloromethane (DCM) (500 mL) at 0 °C was added Boc-anhydride (91 ml_, 391 mmol). It was stirred at ambient temperature for 12 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated. The crude product was purified with column chromatography (Neutral Allumina) by using MeOH : DCM (1 :9) as solvent to give the title compound (50 g, 247 mmol, 31 .6 % yield) as a white solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDC ) δ ppm 0.85 (s, 6 H), 1 .44 (s, 9 H), 2.35 - 2.52 (m, 2 H), 3.00 (br d, J=6.14 Hz, 2 H), 5.16 (br s, 1 H). tert-Butyl (2,2-dimethyl-3-(2-nitrophenylsulfonamido)propyl)carbamate
