Steps:
S5.1 Step 1: Synthesis of l-bromo-2-(2-methoxyethoxy)benzene (Compound 5c)
To a mixture of 2-bromophenol (Compound 5a) (2.0 g, 11.56 mmol) and PPh3 (4.5 g, 17.34 mmol), 2-methoxy ethanol (Compound 5b) (1.3 g, 17.34 mmol ) in THF was added DIAD (3.5 g, 17.35 mmol ) at 0 °C under N2. The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h under N2. After the reaction was completed, the resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography with petroleum ether/ethyl acetate (4/1, v/v) to afford l-bromo-2-(2-methoxyethoxy)benzene (Compound 5c) (2.3 g, 86%) as a yellow oil.
