6A. 4-Oxy-pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid Water (35 mL) was added to a solution of hydrogen peroxide (30% wt. in H2O, 9.14 mL, 80.6 mmol) and NaW2O×2H2O (0.67 g, 2.0 mmol) and the reaction mixture was adjusted to a pH=2 with sulfuric acid (diluted with 15 mL H2O). Pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid (10.0 g, 80.6 mmol) was added to the reaction mixture, stirred for 2 hours at 80° C. and 12 hours at room temperature. The reaction slurry was filtered, washed with cold H2O (35 mL) and dried to give the title compound (8.3 g, 75%) as a white solid. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d4) 14.0 (br. s, 1H), 8.61-8.59 (m, 2H), 8.48 (dd, J=4.0, 1.9 Hz, 1H).
