a) A mixture of compound 31.2 (2 mmol), NaHCO3 (3 mmol), and Boc20 (2.2 mmol) in 1: 1 1, 4-dioxane/water (20 mL) is stirred at room temperature for several hours. The mixture is diluted with brine (50 mL) and extracted with EtOAc several times. The combined extracts are washed with brine, dried with anhydrous Na2S04, and concentrated. The residue is purified by chromatography to afford compound 32e3.
