79.1 1. Synthesis of Intermediate 79-1
To a solution of methyl 3-(hydroxymethyl)bicyclo[l.l.l]pentane-l-carboxylate (2.0 g, 12.81 mmol, 1.0 equiv) in DCM (68.0 mL) at r.t. were added PCC (4.1 g, 19.21 mmol, 1.5 equiv) in portions. The mixture was stirred at rt for 2 h, diluted with ether (180 mL), stirred for 20 min, filtered off the solid, concentrated under reduced pressure to afford 1.9 g (96%) of methyl 3-formylbicyclo[l.l.l]pentane-l-carboxylate (Intermediate 79-1) as a brown solid.
