Generalprocedure for the synthesis of 1-ethynylalkanols 1f-k:
General procedure: To a solution of the corresponding ketone in dry THF(10 mL), ethynyl magnesium bromide (1.5 equiv.) was added dropwise at 0 °C and the reaction mixture was warmed gradually to room temperature and stirred for 12 h. The reaction was quenched by addition of saturated aqueous ammonium chloride and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure. The resulting oil was purified by column chromatography to afford the corresponding propargylic alcohols (typically as pale-yellow liquids).
