Steps:
i.b 2-(2-(oxiran-2-yl)ethyl)isoindoline- 1.3-dione
2-(But-3-en-1-yl)isoindoline-1.3-dione A1 (4.31 g, 21.4 mmol), chloroform (50 mL) and mCPBA (70-75%, 6.34 g, 26 mmol 70%) were stirred at room temperature. After 20 hours the mixture was diluted with 10% w/v aqueous sodium thiosulfate solution (100 mL) and stirred vigorously for five minutes. The mixture was diluted with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (100 mL), the organic layer separated and the aqueous layer extracted with chloroform (2 x 100 mL). The pooled organic extracts were washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (100 mL), brine (100 mL), dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound as a white solid (4.60 g, 99% yield).
