5.1.2 General procedures for the preparation of 4a-c
General procedure: To a mixture of the appropriate 3a-c (5 mmol) in ethanol, hydrazine hydrate (5 mmol, 100%) was added dropwise with continuous stirring. The reaction mixture was then refluxed for 3 h and allowed to cool to room temperature. The separated product was filtered, dried and crystallized from ethanol. Yields for compounds 4a, b, and c were 87, 85, and 85% and m.p. were 189-190, 164-167, 196-197°C respectively.
