Steps:
A Step A: 2- (3- (dimethylamino) propoxy) benzaldehyde
A mixture of 2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (1.73 g, 10 mmol) , 3-chloro-N, N-dimethylpropan-1-amine hydrochloride (1.74 g, 1.1 mmol) and K2CO3(2.76 g, 20 mmol) in DMF (10 mL) was stirred at 60 overnight. The reaction mixture was poured into H2O (50 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (20 mL x 3) . The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4, concentrated and purified by column chromatography (petroleum ether/EtOAc=5: 1100%EtOAc) to give the target compound (1.96 g, 76%) as light yellow oil. MS: M/e 208 (M+1)+.
