11a 2-Bromomethyl-5-methoxy-pyridine [0268] To a suspension of (5-methoxypyridin-2-yl)-methanol (1.00 g, 7.19 mmol) in CH₂Cl₂(15 mL) is added slowly under cooling phosphorus tribromide (473 μL, 5.03 mmol). The reaction mixture is stirred overnight at room temperature. Tert-Butyl methyl ether (50 mL) is added to the mixture. The formed precipitate is filtered off and dried.
