General procedure: Secondary amine 9a-f (0.22 mol) was added, for 5 min at room temperature, to a stirred solution ofsulfonyl chloride 1a,b (21.2 g, 0.1 mol) in dry dioxane (100 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at 60 °Cfor 1 h. After cooling, the reaction mixture was diluted with water (500 mL). The precipitate that formedwas filtered and recrystallized from i-propanol. Yields of 2-chloro-N-substitutedpyridinesulfonamides10a-g were 67-92%.
